What made the wedding venue special?
When planning my own wedding I briefly toyed with the idea of a backyard wedding, which I quickly abandoned for a venue with more space. That said, I still adore the idea of a backyard wedding and Colleen’s father’s home on the bay in Gulf Breeze, Florida was the perfect location for their elegant spring wedding. Chrissy Floral Design and Supposey made magic, transforming the already beautiful backyard into a stunning space that felt warm, intimate, and absolutely gorgeous. It was everything that backyard wedding dreams are made of!
Did the weather cooperate on the wedding day?
The weather leading up to the big day was especially dreary and in fact, the night before it rained to such a degree that the pool overflowed into the yard where the ceremony and reception were to be set up. That morning we were all prepared with umbrellas, extra socks, and back-up plans just in case the deluge continued. Somehow, the rain stopped, the lawn dried, and the skies cleared just in time for their first look, and not a single drop fell from that point forward!
Were there any unique traditions that made the reception or ceremony memorable?
During their final meeting a few weeks prior to their wedding day, Colleen told me that they had recently found out she was pregnant. Having already told their closest family and friends, she planned to do a gender reveal during the cake cutting! When they made the big announcement, the room erupted with cheers and applause. It was one of the most joyful reception moments of my career as a wedding photographer and I was so thrilled to be there to photograph it for them!
