Did the weather cooperate on the wedding day?
Lauren and John chose the Henderson Beach Resort in Destin, Florida for their destination beach wedding because they love the Destin/30A area. I loved that rather than having a spring or summer wedding at the beach, they purposefully selected January because they wanted to enjoy the beauty of the beach for their outdoor wedding and reception without worrying about the heat, and humidity that comes with it later in the year! It ended up being the perfect choice for them and we had one of those stunning Gulf Coast winter days with crisp air, clear blue skies, and abundant sunshine – just gorgeous!
What was unique about the bride and groom’s attire?
When I spoke with Lauren for the first time she mentioned to me that she was planning to change into a second dress for the reception. I didn’t give it a second thought because we often see brides change into something easier to dance in for the reception, however I was blown away when we arrived that morning to see not one, but TWO amazing wedding gowns. For their ceremony and portraits, she wore a stunning off the shoulder ball gown fit for a princess before changing into a gorgeous strapless sweetheart neckline, mermaid cut with layer after layer of the fluffiest white tulle ruffles at the hem!
Were there any unique traditions that made the reception or ceremony memorable?
Lauren’s family is Vietnamese and I loved witnessing some of the unique cultural traditions they incorporated into their wedding day. My favorite by far was the period of time during the reception when Lauren and John visited with every table. At each table, a designated speaker or speakers gave words of advice and well wishes to the couple and they were able to thank each guest personally before sharing a toast with the table!
