What made the wedding venue special?
Allison and Justin live in Kentucky, and every single one of their almost-200 guests traveled to Florida for this Destin winter destination wedding. The bride and groom chose Henderson Beach Resort for their destination wedding, and it was the perfect choice. It’s a modern resort right in the heart of Destin, with gorgeous poolscapes, spas, restaurants, and the beach – if I were traveling to Florida in December, this is where I would want to stay! Their reception took place on Henderson’s Grand Lawn, right in the heart of the resort. Since all of their guests were staying on site, no one left the party early! Everyone was able to enjoy every minute of music and dancing, and then walk right back to their rooms to go to bed. It was perfect!
Tell me about the couple’s choice of color palette.
A winter destination wedding is interesting – it’s December, but it’s also Florida! Allison and Justin, with the help of their awesome wedding planner, created a stunning aesthetic that featured deep emerald green, bold fuschia, black, and gold. It was so pretty! It felt moody and wintry and seasonal, but also perfect for this outdoor, tented reception. The soft seating was velvet and featured the same beautiful pinks and greens, and everything was accentuated with flickering candlelight. It was gorgeous!
Were there any unique traditions that made the reception or ceremony memorable?
Allison and Justin love to have fun – they self identify as “party people,” and their wedding proved this to be true! At the end of their wedding ceremony, Allison and Justin shared their first shot as husband and wife. I’ve seen a lot of wedding traditions, but taking a tequila shot during your ceremony (out of shot glasses featuring their dogs) takes the cake. It set such a fun and lighthearted tone for the wedding, and everyone had a really great time.
