Did the weather cooperate on the wedding day?
Not exactly. Between the months of June and August, we are nearly guaranteed a daily rainstorm between 3:00 and 5:00 every afternoon – wedding days included. Thankfully, Brittany and Chris’s wedding at the Coastal Arts Center of Alabama in Orange Beach has a pretty stunning built-in backup option in the event of inclement weather. With it’s grand staircase, soaring ceilings, and wall of windows overlooking Wolf Bay the main gallery is simply a stunning space for a ceremony and reception. I loved that their guests were still able to enjoy the gorgeous view in spite of the unexpected stormy weather!
Was there an exceptional vendor?
Michelle from A Perfect Plan Wedding Consulting and the event staff from the Coastal Arts Center were absolutely amazing when the weather forced a last minute change from outdoor to indoor ceremony! In the span of just a few minutes they were able to rearrange the main gallery which had already been set for the reception for Brittany and Chris’s ceremony, including repurposing centerpieces as altar decor. If I hadn’t known the ceremony was initially meant to be outside I never would have guessed the beautiful indoor ceremony space was not the original plan! Afterward, they flipped the space back to the initial reception set up without missing a beat!
What was the couple’s session like?
The stormy afternoon and evening forced a change of plan when it came to Brittany and Chris’s couples portraits. Initially we intended to sneak out of their reception at sunset for a few romantic portraits of the two of them, but when the weather eliminated that option we instead took the opportunity to create some fun backlit photos of them in the rain! I loved that they weren’t afraid to be a little adventurous and trusted our vision for gorgeous, unique portraits that we otherwise would not have gotten!
