Were there any children involved in the ceremony or reception that were memorable?
Just writing about Katie’s 5 year old niece, Addie, makes me smile! Addie is smart, funny, sweet and spunky! She isn’t scared to speak her mind. She made sure she was not left out of anything! When the girls went outside to pop a bottle of champagne, she grabbed her water cup and robe and she made sure she was a part of that moment. She definitely delivered her role as a flower girl!
Were there special details with symbolic importance?
Katie’s father recently passed away and one of Katie’s must haves was making sure her dad was involved in every way possible. One of my favorite stories Katie shared was the meaning behind the handwritten note that was etched on her Yeti tumblr, “Don’t suck today, love ya.” Before her dad passed away, Katie was in nursing school and her dad knew she had a test that day so he left her note “Don’t suck today, love ya” in her packed lunch. He made sure to send some positivity her way! Since then that became the Wilbur Family motto. If you fall, pick yourself up, try again and don’t give up!
What made the reception enjoyable?
Katie and Evan’s guests were so sweet! They made me feel so welcomed! Not to mention, Katie’s sisters were so generous to me! They constantly kept checking to see if I needed anything. I truly appreciate their generosity. One of favorite highlights of the reception was the amazing surprise dance they choreographed for Katie and Evan!
