What made the wedding venue special?
Live Oak is always stunning, with its giant trees dripping with chandeliers, a pond complete with friendly ducks, and beautiful woods. A week before Alex and Lane’s Live Oak wedding, the area sustained major damage from Hurricane Sally. The owners of Live Oak did an incredible job working around the clock cleaning up debris, fallen limbs, and more, getting the property wedding ready. Their hard work was obvious and greatly appreciated, and the bride and groom were able to have the wedding of their dreams against a stunning, rustic backdrop.
What emotions were apparent on the wedding day?
Joy, anticipation, and relief! Alex and Lane originally planned their wedding for April of 2020, and it was postponed due to the pandemic. When the hurricane rolled through Pensacola the week before their new wedding date, I felt sick for them at the thought that it would force yet another postponement. But instead, everything was perfect. Live Oak was beautiful, the weather was stunning, their guests were able to attend, and it was absolutely wonderful.
What made the reception enjoyable?
The dance floor was packed all night long! I love weddings in which the guests are there to have a good time, and this was a great example. For hours, the reception hall was filled with laughter, music, and guests (no one left early from this fun party!). Happy guests always make for happy photographers too, and we had a blast!
What was the couple’s session like?
In a word, it was magic. The sun was golden and the grass in the field was green and beautiful. Alex and Lane are wonderful natural subjects, and they were clearly so happy to be together, and married (finally!), that it made my job easy.
