What was special about the first time the bride and groom saw each other?
“Anyone who has been to our downtown studio will probably recognize this first look location! We had initially planned to do their first look and formal portraits in a nearby park, but the blustery day meant we had to come up with another plan FAST. I love shooting at our studio and of my favorite things about it is the deep wrap around porch. I knew the porch would allow us to still be outside, but covered from the rain. Emily and Brian trusted our judgment with the last minute location change and I adore how beautiful this moment was for them!!”
What was the couple’s session like?
“Gorgeous, and emotional, and so stinkin’ sweet. I always encourage my couples to schedule some private time for just the two of them and their portraits on a wedding day. Doing so allows them to relax and enjoy that time without an audience, and makes for such beautiful, authentic moments. We went right into their portraits after their first look and I loved that it was just us and them for that period of time!”
What made the reception enjoyable?
“Emily and Brian have such awesome, fun personalities and I knew their party was going to be fantastic! They hired an AMAZING band out of Mobile who kept everyone on the dancefloor (and the stage!) all night long!! And just when we thought it couldn’t get any more fun, mid-way through the evening they passed out silly hats, glow sticks, and light up tambourines to kick things up a notch! It definitely made for a crazy fun experience for their guests and a few hilarious photo opportunities for us!!”
Was the exit exciting and unique?
“If you follow us on social media, you probably know that confetti is a collective studio favorite for grand exits, so I was excited when Emily told me they were planning a confetti send off at the end of the night! Then she told me they were planning to also pass out white handkerchiefs for their guests to wave during the exit as a way to honor her late grandmother, who always waved a white hanky out the window when she drove away after visiting. As she and Brian were whisked away at the end of the night they waved a white hanky out the car window (cue ALL the happy tears!) – a perfect ending to the most perfect day.”
