If you read through our blog regularly, you will notice that there are some recurring themes that we touch on – laughter, our love of amazing locations, beautiful light, and of course, FAMILY. Chrisandra and Mike’s wedding was the perfect marriage (see what I did there?) of all three.
I had the honor of photographing Chrisandra’s sister’s wedding last year, and I remember thinking that the maid of honor (and sister) was amazing – so I was thrilled and humbled when that maid of honor and sister got engaged and asked me to be a part of her wedding as well! It was lovely to reconnect with a family that is warm and funny and clearly very close. On top of this, Chrisandra and Mike’s wedding was drop dead gorgeous. Their ceremony took place at Malbis Memorial Church, an incredible Greek Orthodox church that is covered in gold leaf, intricate details, and color everywhere. For the reception, they partied under a huge clear-top tent they had built on her parent’s land overlooking Bayou Texar. As the sun set, their guests enjoyed cocktails under the shade of huge live oaks, sitting in Adirondack chairs facing the water, or in cozy vintage velvet furniture that the couple had arranged throughout the tent. The décor was an incredible mixture of lush greenery, fragrant flowers, feathers, and the sweetest bird details everywhere you looked. As it got darker, the tent became magical in another way – the thousands of white lights reflected on the clear tent top, making THIS photographer very, very happy (if you know me at all, you know I am obsessed with twinkle lights!).
So the family was amazing, the event design was incredible – and Chrisandra and Mike were as lovely and in love as ever. I love being around these two – they are smart and funny and down-to-earth and have a great sense of humor. Their taste level is off the charts (hence the gorgeous wedding), and I am so excited to see what their future brings. Congratulations!
