I am in love with the engagement session.  Mary and Hank met in Tallahassee when they were students at Florida State, so it was no surprise that they wanted to celebrate that by photographing their engagement session there.  The timing was pretty perfect too – not only was Hank passing through the Panhandle for work (he’s a professional golfer, no big deal), but this azalea-filled park was in peak bloom.  Everywhere we turned, there was another stunning vignette – rioting azaleas flaming with fuchsia blooms, weeping purple wisteria, camellias showing off the last of their crimson winter blooms . . . and Spanish moss.  So much Spanish moss, dripping off of towering live oaks overlooking the bay.  This park was the epitome of old Florida, bursting with greenery and full of peaceful Southern charm (the mosquitos were pretty southern as well, but we won’t talk about that).

Honestly, I could have photographed a doorknob at Maclay Gardens and been thrilled – but Mary and Hank stole my heart from the beginning and made this session feel really, truly, special.  They are both absolutely lovely, and curious, and multiple times I had to actually break off conversation to take photos, because I’m pretty sure we could have talked for hours.  I loved learning more about their families (Hank is an only child, and Mary has seven siblings – I suppose it averages out, right?!).  They are planning a wedding this winter in Pensacola, at Live Oak Plantation, which is a stunning venue in and of itself, and the perfect backdrop for this couple.  If their engagement session is any indication, I can’t wait.
