We are so excited about our impending wedding season we have decided kick it off with our Vendor Showcase series, where we will periodically showcase exceptional vendors on our blog! We know that there are so many fantastic vendors for you to choose from. We want to help you by highlighting the best wedding vendors of the Gulf Coast!
“I love the cake-cutting! That’s typically the moment in which couples are really able to relax and enjoy themselves. While there are lots of formal moments ahead of time that sometimes cause a little stress, this is typically the moment when they can let down their hair and the party really gets started. Plus, there’s cake!”
-Macky Vellon | Wedding Planner at P.S. Weddings
What sorts of services do you offer (day-of coordination, full-service event design or à la carte planning)?
“Through P.S. Weddings, we offer day-of coordination, full wedding coordination, and full wedding planning. With day-of coordination, we take over as the primary point of contact two weeks out from a couple’s big day. With our full wedding coordination, we become that primary contact one month out from the wedding. Finally, with full planning, we serve as that point of contact throughout the entire planning process. With any of these three packages, we’re onsite for the entirety of the wedding day to make it fun and stress-free for our couples! That means handling everything from inclement weather plans and vendor communications to furniture setup and management of the timeline.”

How many weddings will you be working on at the same time (day of and throughout the entire process)?
“For our wedding plannings and coordinations, each planner at P.S. Weddings has only one event per day. This way, we can give our full attention and focus to that particular couple. We want to be there for them from the minute they start getting ready until the moment the couple has departs at the end of the night. However, at any given time, our planners can be working on countless weddings as we prepare for each one. We’re already working on inquiries for 2020 now.”

What was the most unique wedding you ever planned?
“Truthfully, I can remember each and every wedding! Although there are a lot of factors that make them all similar, they’re all unique in their own way (which is a cheesy answer, I know). However, I think it’s the little details that make each one unique. I like how each couple incorporates their personalities in little ways, and that’s what I always remember.”

What’s your secret for staying calm under pressure?
“Lots of planning ahead and tons and tons of lists! I thrive on making to-do lists and crossing off each item. Whether I’m in the office for the day or onsite at an event, I constantly have a list and lots of notes. I’m a person that likes to write everything down which is always essential for the day-of for weddings.”

What’s your favorite part of wedding day?

Do you have a dream wedding location you want to plan?
“The day that I get to plan a wedding in Williams-Brice Stadium at the University of South Carolina, I’ll be pretty happy.”

What is your best piece of advice for brides?
“I advise every couple to do what makes them comfortable! Just because you see something on Pinterest or at friends’ weddings, doesn’t mean that you have to do it as well. This is one of the few days that should truly be about you and your spouse. So make it about the two of you and not other people’s expectations. You don’t have to spend a certain amount, look a certain way, or have events flow in the exact same way as everyone else to have the most amazing wedding!”

What makes you different?
“P.S. Weddings actually has a sister company called Nancy’s Catering and Events. Therefore, all of our planners are able to assist with coordination, catering, and/or both. We definitely LOVE working with other caterers as well, however, having this background allows us a unique point of view – even when we’re not assisting with catering. Food and bar service can have a big impact on every wedding day so we’re able to foresee that and incorporate it into our timelines and plans – regardless of who is serving as caterer!”

What is the craziest thing you have seen at a wedding?
“I had a bride who surprised her husband-to-be with a falcon at the wedding. The falcon actually flew from the back of the venue, landed on the bride’s arm (she had on a glove), and gave her the ring to present to him. The guests and groom had no idea, and it was both terrifying and amazing. I have yet to see another falcon ring bearer…”

How can future brides contact you?
“Couples can contact us via phone, email, online, and in-person in our shop. I’d say that email is the best method though as we try to get back to every couple as soon as possible. I like when vendors and contacts get back to me quickly so I always try to do the same in return.“
