ALL ABOUT RACHEL
1. What led you to be a wedding photographer?
“I believe it was the universe.
No (hahaha) but on the real though, ultimately it is everything that weddings stand for. The love between two people, two families coming together, the happiness, the joy, all that good stuff. It’s a day that they will remember forever. A day they promise to spend the rest of their life together through the good and the ugly (kinda sounds like a good Clint Eastwood movie)… it’s a starting point for that couple. The beginning of their family and I get to be there for that. I get to have the honor to document all that love and that is just the absolute best. Because of all these things, I pour my heart into my work. I do everything I can to create images that they will treasure and be able to look at and remember the day they promised to share the rest of their lives together, and that is a pretty cool gig.”
2. Describe your personality in 3 words.
“Passionate – Adventurous – Exuberant”
3.If you had one song that described your life, at this very moment, what would it be?
“Easy Living” – Billie Holiday
4. Dog or cat, obviously the most important question on this list.
“Dog… for I do have a pup and his name is Darcy… Mr. Darcy.”
5. What would your dream vacation location be?
“This has always been a hard question because I just want to explore the world. I want to explore the hills of Ireland and Scotland, the safaris of Africa, the streets of Brazil, to ride a camel through the sands of Dubai, to swim along the coast of Greece and the Philippines, to see the trees of Yosemite, to swim in isolated rivers and sit under waterfalls… I mean I could go on an on… please stop me.”
6. What is your secret talent?
“Making everyone feel welcomed and accepted.”
7. What is your favorite location to photograph?
“I don’t have a favorite honestly. I love changes of scenery. Photographing someone in their favorite place is something I enjoy doing, whether that’s in the woods, an urban scene, someone’s home, the beach, near a lake or a river, or in a treehouse is all pretty cool to me.”
8. What is at the top of your bucket list?
“To see the Northern Lights.”
9. What is the best part about being a wedding photographer?
“The relationships and friendships I make… it’s an amazing plus. Not only have I met some awesome individuals but I get to make art along the way and make some really marvelous images so weddings are just the gift that keeps on giving.”
10. IF you could be something other than a wedding photographer what would it be and why?
“ALL THE THINGS! A mug slinger aka potter, a painter, a street musician, a therapist, a back up dancer, an actress, a novelist, and a photographer for National Geographic… I mean can I do all that?? I just love art and being involved in doing something that moves people emotionally or makes them happy. There’s so much I want to do but I will say for right now being a wedding photographer is my main focus.”
Much love,
Rachel
