What was your favorite detail from the wedding day?
The bride is an artist, and she created all of the ceramic vases used as centerpieces! I absolutely loved the ivory vases, each featuring an element reminiscent of the sea – coral, shells, waves. They added such a personal touch to the decor, and it’s special to realize that each vase became an heirloom on Saturday evening!
What made the reception enjoyable?
Matt and Caroline have known each other since middle school, and been a couple since 10th grade. In the thirteen years that they have been together, there has been plenty of time for the families to meet and get to know each other – and the reception showed how comfortable and integrated these two families, and their guests, were.
Tell me about the couple’s choice of color palette.
The couple chose soft blues and creams as their color scheme. There were subtle, seaside elements throughout – soft blue seashell wax seals on the invitations, oyster shells nestled in blue silk on the tables, and of course, the bride’s handmade coastal ceramic vases! This ocean-themed wedding was perfectly done – subtle, classy, and gorgeous!
What was special about the first time the bride and groom saw each other?
Since Caroline and Matt started dating sophomore year of high school, and they saved loads of letters and notes they wrote one another during those years. Before the wedding, they went through their collections and selected a note from years ago. At their first look, after the tears had been dried, they read each other excerpts from those high school letters.
