Tell me about the couple’s choice of color palette.
Sonni and Nick planned a beautiful downtown Pensacola winter wedding that felt seasonal but still neutral enough to have happened at any time of year. The bridesmaids wore the prettiest, platinum-colored shimmery gowns, each in a style that they chose for themselves (and they all looked absolutely gorgeous). The flowers and decor were all whites, ivories, and soft greens. There were white candles and flickering candle light everywhere – it was really beautiful and felt warm and festive, even while chilly rain was pouring down outside.
Were there special details with symbolic importance?
Yes! Sonni and Nick had two beautiful golden angel pins from his grandmother – each was no larger than a dime. They made it a priority to ensure that each one of them had one of these angels with them as they said their vows. It was a beautiful way to honor his grandmother, who is no longer with us. This is my very favorite sort of detail to find at a wedding! Not only were the pins beautiful, but they were meaningful and special and those are the stories from the wedding day that are the most memorable.
What was the couple’s session like?
It was beautiful! The weather? Not so much. In fact, it either rained or threatened rain all day long. The bride and groom had planned to spend the hour before sunset exploring the area around downtown Pensacola, and we had a beautiful route planned out for photos. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate. Sonni and Nick never stopped smiling, and they never showed any stress due to the weather. Instead, they opened a beautiful clear umbrella, swept her train up so it wouldn’t get wet, and snuggled up under awnings and overhangs – it was lovely. Once the sun set, they trusted me enough to step back outside in the rain for some one-of-a-kind portraits.
