What emotions were apparent on the wedding day?
Getting married after losing a parent is never an easy feat, and always brings an array of emotions to a wedding day. After losing her father, Kaitlyn knew honoring him in various ways on her wedding day would make his presence felt. The bride incorporated a special tribute dance to her father with both her mother and brother, followed by guests toasting his honor with shots of whisky. The evening came to a close with an extra special reveal by Melissa Munger’s live painting. A dreamy oil painting of the couple’s first dance with her late father standing beside her mother, looking on with a smile.
What was unique about the bride’s attire?
With her stunning Martina Liana ensemble, Kaitlyn made all my princess gown dreams come true. It’s not every day you get a Bride with such a fabulous ball gown, so this was an exciting surprise for us at AKW. Kaitlyn paired her dress with the perfect pair of Badgley Mischka heels, backed with delicate fabric bows. Once the dance floor opened and the party started, the bride changed into custom “Bride” sneakers and swapped her veil for a pearl-embellished bow.
Were there special details with symbolic importance?
Kaitlyn + Lane wanted to honor her family by having their wedding day on her Grandparent’s anniversary. This sweet sentiment was coupled with the use of their hand-painted Bride and Groom cake topper, also belonging to Kaitlyn’s Grandparents. The duo made sure to include several thoughtful details throughout their day honoring both families and making their big day extra special.
