Did the weather cooperate on the wedding day?
Oh my stars, did it ever! October is one of the most popular months for weddings along the Gulf Coast. Typically it is gorgeous, but it is smack in the middle of hurricane season, so there is always a little question about what the weather might do. Thankfully, we were graced with perfect blue skies and mild early fall weather for Aly and Omar’s downtown Pensacola wedding at Old Christ Church, and reception at 5eleven Palafox! It couldn’t have been a prettier day for this lovely couple!!
What was special about the first time the bride and groom saw each other?
Aly and Omar chose not to see each other prior to the ceremony, but did want to take a few minutes to privately say their vows to each other before the ceremony began. We found a tucked away corner and made sure that they didn’t sneak any peeks, and gave them space to just be together quietly for a few minutes on their wedding day. I loved that they wanted that moment to be just for them and am completely obsessed with the gorgeous photos from that time!
Were there any unique traditions that made the reception or ceremony memorable?
I have three words for you. Ice cream truck. As a special sweet treat for their guests (and maybe their photographers too!) Aly and Omar booked Mr. Softee to serve up delicious soft serve ice cream during the reception! I have seen some fun reception snacks, but never an ice cream truck and it is safe to say that it takes the cake, or ice cream as the case may be!
