What was unique about the bride and groom’s attire?
For their early summer wedding at the Hilton Pensacola Beach, Megan and Shaun wanted two things. One, to get married with their toes in the sand and two, for it to be simple and fun! In keeping with their simple and fun beachy vibe, Megan chose a dress with an easy knee length hemline, pretty box pleats, and just a little sparkle at the waist. She looked absolutely gorgeous and every bit the part of carefree, toes-in-the-sand, beach bride!
Were there any unique traditions that made the reception or ceremony memorable?
I have two words for you – flower boy. And by flower boy, I mean a grown man in rainbow suspenders and a gold lamé fanny pack who tossed rose petals into the air with as much pomp and zeal as he could muster. I (and all of Megan and Shaun’s guests!) LOVED the fun twist on more traditional wedding traditions. People who love to have fun and don’t take themselves too seriously are my very favorite kind!
What was your favorite detail from the wedding day?
When I think back to my own wedding, there were so many details we put thought into, but not all of them were objects. In fact, one of the details I labored over for months was selecting the perfect song for our first dance. For their first dance, Megan and Shaun chose “From Here to the Moon and Back” by Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton. There is no way they could have known, but Willie Nelson is hands-down my all time favorite musician and Dolly is a pretty close second. As they danced and sang to each other I did my best to keep the happy tears at bay, and sang right along with them behind my camera.
