I remember when Kayla came into our studio in downtown Pensacola for the first time. Actually, what I really remember from her visit is laughing. A lot. We talked about about life, our pets, and of course, Kayla and Mason’s wedding. I remember deciding (just a few minutes into meeting her), that I REALLY wanted to be a part of this wedding. While we discussed specific details – and they all sounded gorgeous – the overwhelming sense I got was that Kayla and Mason basically just wanted their wedding to be a fun experience, for their guests and each other. My initial impression of the couple was confirmed at their engagement session last spring. They wanted to incorporate their two dogs (obviously, I agreed), and so we spent the afternoon on a secret little beach near Perdido Key. It was “their beach,” and it was so great hearing about all of their memories of a spot that was truly beautiful, even standing alone. As I often do, I gently asked Mason to pick up Kayla – and they immediately assumed a sort of formation and recreated the famous lift scene from Dirty Dancing. Clearly, these are my people, and I have been anticipating their wedding ever since.
So, the wedding happened, and it was just as relaxed and fun as this couple. All of the guests danced until the music had to shut down, and then they moseyed down the boardwalk to continue the party on the sand around a big bonfire. There was a cigar bar and confetti canons, and endless supply of cocktails and cookies. But Kayla and Mason’s wedding wasn’t just fun – it was absolutely gorgeous as well. The said their vows on a private deck overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, under a custom, driftwood arbor dripping with ivory and blush flowers. Kayla’s wedding gown was a stunning design by Anna Campbell, with a flowing Grecian feel and an intricate sparkling bodice. Mason and his groomsmen had custom superhero belt buckles (with matching socks), and the guests dined on some of the prettiest food displays we have seen.
