Well, you know your wedding day is ready to kick off with a bang when you wake up on wedding morning to lightning striking your house – which is exactly what happened to Jennifer! A group of nasty storms rolled through in the early morning of her Pensacola Beach wedding; we worried all week that the weather would force the ceremony inside. Fortunately, the rain moved fast and furious, and left the day with the most gorgeous, moody blue sky and the softest light that made our already-aqua water seem electric.
Jennifer and Trey’s gorgeous beach wedding was able to continue as planned. They exchanged their vows under an arch made of driftwood and adorned with flowers, and took gorgeous wedding photographs with the blue water as their backdrop. After the ceremony, the party moved over to Portofino Island’s stunning pool deck and covered patio area, which was beautifully decorated with cream draping, hundreds of white twinkle lights, and crystal chandeliers. The band (out of Atlanta) was incredible, playing a mix of current pop and classics that had everyone on the dance floor, all night long. My favorite detail was one I have never before seen in the ten years I have been photographing weddings – personalized, temporary tattoos of Jennifer and Trey’s faces, along with their wedding date (I actually still have one on my forearm as I type this!).
I’ve often said that the best wedding receptions are the ones thrown by our Louisiana clients, and this wedding continued to support my point – this New Orleans couple knew how to party, and their family and friends showed up ready to kick off their shoes and have a great time! The surprise fireworks show at the end of the evening was the icing on the cake, and the perfect way to bookend an amazing wedding (starting with lightning and ending with fireworks!!).
