There are so many things I could write about Camille and Hunter’s wedding. I could discuss the venue – the bride’s family’s estate, which is a horse farm and polo property. The setting was everything you could expect from this, with rolling green hills, majestic oaks, wooden fences, and horses that casually wandered into the background of our photos at all the right moments. I could discuss the bride’s choice of attire, which included the prettiest veil I’ve seen in a decade of photographing weddings. I could discuss the stunning, clear-top tent, complete with gigantic chandeliers and a video wall that live-streamed images from the dance floor, making the reception feel like a rock concert. I could discuss the fact that Robert Earl Keen (THE Robert Earl Keen), performed “Gringo Honeymoon” for the couple’s first dance, as a surprise from Camille’s parents. I could discuss the draping, and the lighting, and the sparklers, and the horse topiaries; the late-night taco bar, drink donkeys, incredible groom’s cake, or the band.
I could discuss all of those things, but I won’t.
Instead, I’d like to talk for a minute about the thing that sticks with me the most from this spectacular wedding – the people. Camille and Hunter were absolutely lovely, from the minute we arrived until we left the reception. I loved spending time with the bride as she put on her wedding gown and accessories; she is funny and down-to-earth and has the very best laugh. She was helped by her three maid of honors, who were all attentive and helpful and clearly full of love for Camille. The parents were wonderful. Camille’s mom was energetic and warm (and gorgeous in her own right in her custom gown). Dad was hilarious – he might have teared up when he first saw his daughter (okay, he definitely did!), and I loved seeing the way they interacted with one another. Hunter’s parents were just as lovely, chatting with me like I was an old friend, helping me wrangle family members for photos, and being generally just nice to be around. Hunter was laidback and obviously delighted with his bride. I’ve always said that no matter how beautiful the wedding, it’s the PEOPLE who make the day wonderful, and this wedding was the perfect marriage of beautiful design and a lovely family. THANK YOU for trusting me to capture this for you, and I hope this won’t be the last time I see you all!
