My favorite detail about Jordan and Kyle’s Palafox Wharf wedding wasn’t her gorgeous invitation suite, or her stunning Matthew Christopher gown and fabulous Badgley Mischka shoes, or even gorgeous blush and ivory floral designs from the amazing Sunshine Designs. No, my favorite detail was older and smaller, accompanied by a handwritten note showing the signs of its age and how much she is loved – her handkerchief. Her magic hanky to be specific. You see, I’ve only ever seen one other magic hanky. It was the one that my mom packed away so carefully and that I carried on my own wedding day. If you’re unfamiliar with the magic hanky story, it goes something like this. “I’m just a little hanky As square as square can be, But with a stitch or two They make a bonnet out of me.
I’ll be worn from the hospital Or on the Christening Day. Then I’ll be carefully pressed And neatly packed away.
For her wedding day So we’ve been told, Every well-dressed bride must have That something old.
So what could be more fitting Than to find little me, A few stitches snipped And a wedding hanky I’ll be.”
Discovering the little details that make every wedding and couple’s day unique is one of my favorite parts about this job. Doing this job for people as lovely and loved as Jordan and Kyle makes it even better. Thank you both so much for trusting us with photographing your wedding – it was truly a pleasure.
