What was your favorite detail from the wedding day?
“Sharon did so many of the details herself, and she did a fabulous job! She and Zach chose a “Cinderella” theme, and I really enjoyed seeing all the ways they incorporated elements from the fairy tale. There were sparkly pumpkins scattered throughout the Cotton House, in shades of white and Cinderella blue. Quotes from the movie were framed and tucked discreetly on the tables. Candles were placed in iron carriages, and the table cards were vintage keys. So while I don’t really have one favorite detail, I really enjoyed seeing the many ways the Cinderella details came together to lend an air of classic romance to the evening.”
Did the weather cooperate on the wedding day?
“ABSOLUTELY NOT. Seriously, this was legitimately the worst weather of any wedding I’ve photographed this year. It rained in the morning, afternoon, and well into the night. There were times it was so heavy that we literally couldn’t go outside – thunder, lightning, the whole shebang. But Sharon and Zach were so, so amazing about it – there was no anger, tears, stress, or disappointment. They rolled with the punches, exuded positivity, and were just so happy to be marrying each other that nothing else really mattered.”
What was the couple’s session like?
“Well, it was memorable! The rain let up at exactly the right moment, and we snuck down one of the beautiful trails at Live Oak. We knew the rain was only paused, so we hurried to get Sharon and Zach set up – and literally as soon as I raised the camera to my eye (but before I clicked a photo), the sky FELL DOWN and started dumping water. We all picked up and ran back to the golf cart, but Sharon stole my heart in this moment. Instead of panicking about her gown, she and Zach grabbed hands and laughed all the way to safety. Sure enough, about 10 minutes later, the rain gave us another window and allowed us to create some gorgeous portraits of the two of them in the woods. Magic.”
What was unique about the bridal party’s attire?
“They were custom-made! In keeping with the Cinderella theme, Sharon had a vision of the perfect blue. She found the fabrics, created the design, and had a local seamstress create them – they were blue, sequined, floor-length, and stunning!”
Why was the stationery suite so exceptional?
“Because Sharon handmade them! Really – she created an absolutely stunning invitation suite that had texture, color, and class. They were beautiful and I found it incredibly impressive that she made them all!”
Was there unique transportation?
“Again, the continuation of the Cinderella theme was perfect here – there was a white, wright-iron, horse-drawn carriage! It delivered Sharon to the ceremony (in the rain, to boot!), and carried the couple around the property for photos as well. It was lovely.”
